Fikâ - pronounced "fee-ka"
A Swedish word that roughly translates as 'take a moment' for a coffee & a bite to eat, 'enjoy & appreciate' the good things in life. But it also means much more than that! It’s a moment to relax. To catch up with your family & to laugh with your friends. It’s the time between meals & the place between destinations. Our kitchen is your kitchen so make yourself at home.
What is behind Fikâ?
We kind of fell into Fikâ when we purchased a mobile artisan dessert truck from a lovely Swedish lady. The little Fikâ truck got a name for itself in our local Western Bay community and we loved what Fikâ stood for. The truck soon became a mobile cafe, offering coffee and baked goods. Our community became used to "Fikâ" and the people behind it, so when the decision was made to purchase a local Tauranga eatery, it was only right that it also became part of the Fikâ family.
Fikâ Cafe & Bar, located in Cherrywood, Otumoetai was previously Neighbourhood Kitchen. Becoming part of Fikâ has seen the introduction of a cafe serving Allpress coffee and a brand new cafe and brunch menu adding to the existing afternoon and evening menus.
Fikâ Cafe & Bar will embrace it's Swedish meaning and we hope we've created a relaxed environment so you can take a moment, enjoy and appreciate the good things in life. With a more relaxed, informal style of cafe and dining we hope to be your family friendly, catch up with mates, drinks after work neighbourhood local.
